Jay's Story

Life Have been essentially working as a sportswriter since getting out of grad school, with some detours along the way. Also became a music critic, sort of accidentally, through a romance with a lady flutist. Now I write the Music Scene column for the Patriot Ledger in Quincy, review concerts etc., and still do loads of sports like Pawtucket Red Sox, Boston Cannons pro lacrosse, boxing, Boston Marathon, etc. etc. Not rich but reasonably happy. Single and busy. College Attended Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. Ran on the cross-country team as a freshman. Club football started my sophomore year, and that continued for the next three years; tight end, linebacker, many positions. Also worke...Expand for more
d pumping gas most of my college years. Graduated with a English degree, and added major concentration in Sociology, with a minor in Psychology. Took a year off to work, and save, and went to grad school at Boston University for MS Journalism. Completed all the work there, pending a thesis, and went to work....and never got around to doing that thesis. Workplace Have been writing for newspapers, magazines, etc since about 1977. Currently music columnist for Quincy Patriot Ledger, as well as sports reporter doing everything from baseball to boxing, lacrosse to hockey to golf. Have done radio, as co-host on a local sports call-in show. Journalism no way to get rich, but every day is different.
