Jay's Story
Life
I left Northside in 10th grade to go to Lyman Ward Military Academy in Camp Hill, Alabama where I finished my last two years of High School where I was able to obtain a senior graduation and acceptance to Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA where I obtained my Associate Degree in General Studies and Commission in the United States Army. From there I went immediately to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for Field Office Basic Training. That was a good and growing experience. Next I went to Wiesbaden, Germany for my first assignment as a Forward Observer for an Infantry Battalion (4-69IN), this also was a good and growing experience. While there I became very proficient in snow skiing and after my four year tour there I brought it back to the states where I skied ofter in Colorado and New Mexico but all that had to stop in 1994 when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. For those of you that don't know MS is not so much an extremity problem but it is a Mind Problem with many lea sons separating the mylan from the nerve end...Expand for more
ings thereby affecting the extremities and other important body parts. So, needless to say in 2000 I retired from my military service which had become Reserve by this time and in 2002 I retired from Civil Service and got married to Roberta Farrell, a retired elementary school teacher I met at the First United Methodist Church here in Lawton. It's been a great marriage because after three automobile I had while trying to do wright I decided to quit driving and that left the rest up to her, and she's been gracious to contend. We visit my Neurologist and the Veterans Administration in Oklahoma City once or twice per month. That's a blessing because Lawton doesn't have the restaurants that Oklahoma City does. So needless to say we generally make a night of it and have a really good time going. As for the rest of my life it continues pretty quietly every day with the exception of friend who calls or e-mail periodically. Guess that tells a little bit about my life, as I think of other things I left out I'll add to this list.
