Jay's Story
Where has the time gone???
After PVHS I left for Colorado. BS degree 1970 from Colorado State University, then returned to California. Worked at Allstate Insurance 'till 1980, then for for Hughes Aircraft until 1992 and finally on to Wells Fargo as a financial analyst before retiring in 2009...
Married my soul-mate, Bonnie--an absolutely wonderful woman. She was Special Education/Resource director in the Irvine School District..she retired in 2010.
We live by the beach in San Clemente....which still retains that wonderful circa 1950's/60's small-town beach vibe/ambiance we all experienced growing up in PV and the surrounding beach towns.
Two sons..Evan,from Dana Point..Sadly, Evan passed away May 8, 2010. Younger son Jeff is 36, married to Kate and works in Colorado as a energy consultant. Jeff and Kate welcomed their first child, Charlotte, on April 12, 2013 and 2nd child, Ellie, on July 17, 2015. Our daughter, Hollie, is 22 and attends Saddleback College. (she's 6 feet tall like mom). Hollie is very active and a terrific surfer/swimmer. Two oth...Expand for more
er grandchildren (both Evans)--Sage, 20 and Nick 17...both are simply terrific kids..... Finally, there is Kona, our golden doodle.
Spend lots of beach time with seasoned 'old surf farts' at San Onofre and Trestles..Still playing guitar (remember the DEL-MARS surf band with Smitty Lancaster, Ken Hinchman, Mike Kandel, Richard Garcia, Eric Wolff and myself?) but now concentrate playing Hawaiian Slack Key guitar (Kiho'alu). We have vacationed in Hawaii numerous times over the past 20+ year..Really enjoy roasting my own coffee. I purchase green (raw) coffee beans from all over the world then roast small batches on a small commercial-style home roasting machine. It is actually cheaper than purchasing roasted premium coffee at retail and the flavor profiles from different beans/roasts are really incredible!
Life is (and has been) very good to me and my family.. Each new day is another blessing from God....for that I'm very grateful!!
Stop by and visit if you're in the area...
Aloha to all of you!!!
