Jay's Story
Life
For those of you who don't know, upon graduation, I attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. After two uneventful years, I developed a 13 by 11 by 9 1/2 centimeter cancerous mass in my chest. It turned out to be Hodgkin's disease, and it was subsequently sucessfully treated with six months of chemotherapy and a month and a half of radiation. I spent a year taking classes at TCU and got a job tutoring children and had a great year. I returned to West Point the following year with a fresh outlook on life. I replaced my brooding, self-piteous, whiny pessimism with a carefree optimism which has followed me since. The last two years went farely well, and I graduated on 1 June 2002 with a degree in mathematics and a fairly high ranking among my peers. rrival in January, I was immediately deployed to Kuwait. My division spearheaded the war effort as the main effort, and I travelled in the same vehicle as the Commanding General of the Third Infantry Division as a military intelligence analyst, providing General Blount timely information to make key decisions. Upon arriving to Baghdad just behind the front lines, I worked as a battle captain at least 16 hours a day on Baghdad International Airport, in charge of producing products as well as acquring and disseminating information to key decision makers. In June, I was given a collection and jamming platoon, which consists of Arabic linguists and millions of dollars of equipment. After spending more time in Fallujah, we returned to the US. I currently reside in Richmond Hill, GA, which is only minutes outside of Savannah. I will be home for a week or two in September, so if anyone is in Texas at that time or ever in Georgia, look me up, and I will be more than happy to grab some drinks or party with you all.
