Jay's Story
Life
After graduation, I went to USC. I graduated in 1992 and got my commission as a US Navy Officer through NROTC. My first ship, the USS BRISTOL COUNTY (LST 1198) was in San Diego, and my second ship, an AEGIS Destroyer (USS CARNEY DDG 64) was built in Maine and stationed in FL (I was on the commissioning crew). After leaving the CARNEY in the Persian Gulf, I went to Grad school in DC and got my MS in Strategic Intelligence. to the Naval War College in RI getting my 2nd Masters. I got married in August 2003. It is AWESOME! Even better, Sara and I had a little girl in October 2007. I just wrapped up my tour as Executive Officer aboard a new destroyer built in Mississippi. We were badly damaged in Hurricane Katrina, but were repaired and commissioned in 2007. We were hazegray and underway after that, so nice to be going to shore duty. I will be working as the multi-ship exercise coordinator for Commander Third Fleet until I am assigned to command of my own ship sometime in 2010. Hope you are all well!
