Jayana's Story
School
School was always tough for me. My family is in a religion that's supreme goal is to remain seperate from the world and so I was not allowed to associate with anyone other than those of our faith. So I could not form ties with the kids I went to school with. On top of that I was smart and gawky. I didn't see the point to giggling and note passing and I hated my greasy hair and zit covered face. I was a bit "big boned", or so I felt and thought, and you know what, the rest of you can be pretty cruel.
I hated going to school! Now that I am older, I realize that we all had our issues and all felt out of sorts. I am glad that my skin is greasy because it has helped me look younger. I am still weight conscious but hey, that is what keeps me eating better and working out!
One of the tag lines here is "if you could do it all over again, would you?" I have a 17 yr old...I am doing it all over again. Kids are still clicky, hurtful and insecure. Feelings get hurt and boyfrien...Expand for more
ds are changing faster than I can blink.
I honestly believe that we never grow up! The work environment is often very similar to the school experience.
This section is hard for me to respond to because for all the reasons above and those unstated, I went to school to get an education and would have prefered to have avoided all the other stuff!
Workplace
I am CEO of a company that specializes in automated property management systems and consulting. Our target market is the hotel industry. I love my job and I have worked very hard to get to where I am today! I don't know if you noticed but I didn't put anything in the college section...because I didn't go to college.
If that isn't enough, I am a Real Estate Agent!
Military
I went to boot in August of 1986, 5 months after getting married to a Marine. I did not complete boot camp. I was young and if I had it to do over again, I would have stayed in the USMC instead of picking a short lived life with my now ex-husband.
