Jayne's Story
My family moved in the middle of my senior year of high school from Ocean City, NJ to Malvern, PA. I really don't have any acquaintances at GVHS so anyone from there checking out this profile won't remember me. I was a wallflower and tried my darndest not to get noticed - so very unlike my experience at Ocean City HS.
After graduation I started working as a waitress at a restaurant in Paoli. I attended West Chester State College. I called it quits after one dismal year. I wished I had gone away to college! I went to work full-time after that. I got my first office job at a car dealership. Just for fun I worked nights at Valley Forge Music Fair as an usher. I met my future husband working there. We had a son and daughter together. We were married for 4 years and then divorced.
I worked for a local bank after the dealership. I've been working in our family business in Chester County since 1983. I remarried in 2001. We have a grandson. My son met his wife while stationed in Ft. Huachuca, AZ. They live in the Portland, OR area now. I miss them so much! My daughter works in the medical field and lives on my street. :)
I still live in the "starter home" that my 1st husband and I bought together. (I assumed he meant a starter home for both of us!)
I attend services at an Episcopal Church. I am active in The Order of the Daughters of the King. In the past I have been a member of the choir, co-directress of the Altar Guild, served on vestry and ran the plant sale two years. I am also trained as a Stephen Minister. I just finished my third year of Education for Ministry. For those of you not familiar with EFM the courses do not imply that I am pursuing a career in ministry; although some have used it as a stepping stone to the deaconate or seminary. Rather, it explores the Bible, who wrote it, the history of the church as well as other religions and philosophy. One more year to go!
When my kids were younger I volunteered with the Boy Scouts and ran the snack shack for the Little League for one year.

Mary Kay cosmetics since 1993. For my volunteer work I got my Food Manager certification which I have kept up to date. I am a licensed Nail Technician in PA since 2001 although I am currently inactive.
I don't have any pets at home. I have an aquarium in my office. I would love to have a kitty but Tom HATES cats. I'd love to have a spaniel but condo living isn't fair to a pooch. When we win the lottery I'll have a home with a yard for a dog or two.
I've traveled to England, Scotland, Wales and Mexico. I've been to Disney World three times. My kids and I spent many summer vacations on Martha's Vineyard. I've been to Baltimore's Inner Harbor many times.
My 2nd husband and I traveled to Ft. Jackson, SC to see my son graduate from Basic Training. We made a road trip out of it and visited Monticello, Natural Bridge and the caverns.
Last year my kids and I toured the American Southwest. We took a helicopter ride over Grand Canyon - really the only way to see it. Other adventurous things I've done: White water rafting, taking a ride in a glider over the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.
With the exception of one or two softball games with the Perkins crowd I have never been an active participant in sports. I took a few golf lessons many years ago but didn't have a set of ladies left-handed clubs to practice with.
I like to see art exhibits at the Phila. Art Museum. I love going to concerts. I saw many in my single days in the 70's (Van Halen, Boston, Eddie Money, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, Billy Joel, Beach Boys, Chicago) and of course while working at Music Fair. In recent years I've seen Hall & Oates, Philly Pops, Tina Turner, Frankie Vallie and The Four Seasons, a doo-wop show at The Keswick. I've traveled to New York to see a couple of plays and even saw Late Night with David Letterman when he was with the other network. I like the shows at the Sight & Sound theatre in Lancaster. I saw my first opera at the Academy of Music recently, Rigoletto. Cool.
Right now my husband and I are enjoying our empty nest. Life is good.
