Life 1954 - Sixth grade - May - Carried the flag and lead my Girl Scout troop in the Memorial Day Parade 1954 - Seventh grade - October - began playing cornet 1955 - Seventh grade - played cornet in Junior Band at spring concert - marched and played cornet in the Memorial Day Parade 1955 - Eighth grade - September - won the first chair solo cornet position in Junior Band. 1956 - Eighth grade - Played at the Music Festival Performed Cornet Solo Carnival of Venice - Received grades of B's and won music medal Marched and played solo cornet in the band for the Memorial Day Parade. 1956 - Ninth grade - September entered high school senior band and won first chair solo cornet in two weeks. 1957 - Ninth grade - Played at the Music Festivals Performed Cornet Solo - Maid of the Mist - by Herbert L. Clarke Mrs. Burget - Piano Accompaniment Received grades of B's and won a music medal Marched and played solo cornet in the band for the Memorial Day Parade. Won award for outstanding achievement 1958 - Tenth grade - Spring Concert at Brandon High School Performed Cornet Solo - Carnival of Venice - by Herbert L. Clarke Mrs. Burget - Piano Accompaniment Marched and played solo cornet in the band for the Memorial Day Parade. Played solo cornet in the dixieland band with Ellen Fisher playing solo clairnet and Allyn Solley playing solo saxophone. Played cornet and drum duet with Verna Bernor playing drum and Mr. Wood playing piano accompaniment. Marched and played solo cornet in the band for the Memorial Day Parade. **Chosen as the best female musician by the class of 1960. Received outstanding achievement award. 1960 - June graduated in the top half of the class 1960 - Attended the National Music Camp at Interlochen - Grades of B Played La Virgen de la Macarena by Rafael Mendez at student recital at Interlochen National Music Camp 1960 - Awarded a scholarship from Interlochen to attend summer classes at the University of Michigan Attended U of M Summer Music - Grades of B 1960 - October - Attend Business School and study machines used in accounting 1961 - Graduated from Business School - Grades of A ***After 1960 the highest notes I have played on the B flat cornet and trumpet are double high B flat and double high C ***College Degrees Earned after 1960 Bachelor in C. P. A.
