Jean's Story
Life
All things considered, I might be the luckiest girl that ever lived. In spite of losing my father when I was 2, having more than my share of family problems, and making many mistakes with my love life, I ended up with a happy marriage to a man that I love with all my heart, and a great career as a Medical Technologist.
We've lived in the same house since we got married in 1982, and I spend my free time loving Kenny, taking care of our stray cat family, going to movies and enjoying our home theater, gardening when it isn't so hot, and my newest addiction, computer games like Luxor, Zuma, and Tumblebugs. :-)
School
I went to a different high school each year, so I didn't really have many friends of either sex. If I could do it all over again, I'd only go to one school. I think that would've made a big difference.
College
I lived at home when I went to Broward Community College, so those two years were uneventful. Then one quarter at Unive...Expand for more
rsity of South Florida in Tampa, then I went to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton where I graduated in 1975. I did have a guy I liked at USF, but nothing came of it, and another guy at FAU, but only one date and I never saw him again.
However, there was one guy at FAU who wouldn't stop asking me out. He was so sexy that I couldn't hardly look at him, and he made me so nervous that I couldn't go out with him. Eventually he gave up and stopped asking, but over the next 6 years we kept running into each other, and he finally asked me out again at Christmas, 1979. His name is Kenny Cawthorne, and this time I said yes, and we got married October 2, 1982. He's the best thing that ever happened to me. I only wish I had said 'yes' 6 years earlier.
Workplace
Cashier at a local Publix supermarket, and after that, all Medical Technology. First at Florida Medical Center, then Holy Cross, then North Broward Medical Center where I've worked since 1983.
