Jean's Story
I left Santa Ynez in my Junior/Senior Summer. My family moved down to Ventura Ca. I finished H.S.
at Ventura High School '68. After graduation I worked for the FBI in Wash. DC. I worked there
until Nov. of 68. I then went home to Ca. and
married my husband of 43 yrs. We have one Son (Chuck) and 2 beautiful grandchildren.
In '93 I was diagnosed with a rare liver disease called Primary Biliary Cholangitis. This is an Auto Immune disease. PBC is a non drug or alcohol related liver disease. It is non contagous.
Auto Immune diseases are diseases of unknown factors that attack your vital organs. My immune system is attacking my Liver, Lungs, Thyroid, Endcrine Glands. The cure for the Lung and Liver disease is a transplant.
I was also diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2003. N.H. Lymphoma is a slow growing cancer that you can only try for remis...Expand for more
sion. Due to the current transplant rules I would have to be 5-yrs cancer free before I could have a Lung or Liver transplant.
I have a very positive attitude. I am a Christian lady
and I also believe that I was put in this place in
my life for a reason.
I belong to an online support group PBCers.org. There are over 3000 members. We work with the nations premost liver specialists from all over the country trying to find a cause and cure for PBC.
I am a widow, but I have had an incredible life. I enjoy life everyday and have had the chance of meeting some old friends through Classmates.com. I love to collect antigues, quilt, travel, make jewlery.
This might sound grim to some, but quite the opposite I enjoy educating people on PBC and
Auto Immune Diseases. If you have questions
please don't hesitate to write me.
Thank you
