My Life: Met husband in college; married 18 months after '82 graduation (10/'83). Landed jobs in Phila., PA. Moved to northern suburbs. When wanted kids, got Golden Retriever! So had five years pre-kids to play and do career thing. Gave birth to firstborn in 1989 (daughter, now 21); our son (18) completed family in 1992. Gave up career to be stay-at-home mom for 18 years. Healthy, active family (homework, sports, lessons, carpools, vacations, ministries - quite typical); solid faith; grounded marriage; two kids, house, fence, dog, van -- basic American dream. Then '03, fell off cliff day-hiking on 20th anniversary: head trauma, multiple broken bones, shattered left leg. (Surgeon's description: cornflakes.) Medi-vac'd to trauma center. Surgeries and casts from October '03 to May '04; PT through October '04. Mostly fine now; not even a limp. Daughter off to college '07 + mid-life = husband wanted out after 25 years married, 29 years together. Left in '08; divorce final April '10. Trying to trust God throughout. Some magic; some tragic; but really okay. No complaints -- a full, rich, wonderful life. Looking to the next 30 years as remarkable an adventure as the last. Children (2): Great kids.
