Jeanette's Story

UPDATED JANUARY 2009....ALSO FIND ME AT MYSPACE DOT COM SLASH JEANETTEEROCKS, ALSO FACEBOOK... Hi! You may have also known me as "Jean." Almost a year after high school I decided to follow my call to the ocean--I moved to Huntington Beach, California. I wasn't ready to go back to school right away so I spent the next three years partying and working several different jobs: video clerk, secretary, etc. Finally, I was ready to pursue my dream as a sound/recording engineer and moved to Seattle to attend The Art Institute. After being a "starving student" for a year, I decided to finish school later and take a full time job working on a fishing boat in Alaska! Hard work 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, 3 months straight. Sounds crazy, but the money, scenery, adventure, money, and time off at the end of the season had all been worth it. Did I mention money? e boat I met my husband Tom in 1995 - we were married in '96 and built our log home a year later. We traveled a lot, I got into skiing for a while, and then after about 10 years (off and on) I finally quit fishing in Alaska to have my baby girl in 2002. She's already in kindergarten now... In 2005/06 Tom had changed careers and we had to come back to live in Texas (Houston). I did not miss it. I really miss Seattle. But I've tried to make the best of it by finally going back to school like I've always wanted, and I LOVE it! I'm going for a Medical Radiology (Tech) degree this time. I still love photography, travelling, and especially music. I probably won't ever go for the Audio Engineering degree or become a rock star anymore (ha ha!), but playing Guitar Hero is pretty fun!
