Jeanette's Story
Hi Everyone,
It's been quite an experience since high school!
After graduating from the UW in Philosophy, I owned a restaurant in Olympia , JoMamas, for 25 years, and also served on the City Council for three terms. I directed an art gallery for a local artist who does encaustic paintings, managed the Estee Lauder Counter at the Bon for two years and was briefly a financial advisor. Over the past four years I have been a project manager for a local land developer, and my primary project has been planning for Oly's first high end condo project. It has been a tremendous challenge, as a small and vocal group in the community have made their cause a religious war about views from the Capital Campus, and argued that the view from there over our city should be without buildings. But as we all know, politics can be irrational!

Obama Inauguration in DC in January. What a great event! What a great President he is!
My oldest daughter works at an architectural design firm in Tacoma, the other is graduating in Political Science at WWU in June and planning to snag a job in DC, hopefully at the State Department. My husband is the assistant Natural Resources Director for the Squaxin Tribe. We are enjoying the empty nest!
My folks have both passed away in recent years, and that was particularly difficult for me. I miss them every day.
So, I often think of Everett and the old neighborhood - how lucky we all were living in such a stable world that we were able to know each other for so many years. I also appreciate the working class values we grew up with, and attribute my work ethic and determination to the way we grew up in View Ridge.
That's it for now.
