Jeanette's Story

Life At the time of this posting near the end of 2007 I am 56 years old. Married since 1972 and our son Brandon, is 26. I don't live in the City anymore, but I do live in the East Bay South near Fremont. For anyone who might remember me knew I used to sing a lot in high school. Unfortunately, I gave that up in the mid 70's when I was asked to do things (the casting couch era) that young women were often asked to do. I figured if I had talent book me for that. So, as the story goes I didn't give in. I became very disappointed with the business so I gave up singing for what I thought would be forever. I became ill in 1995 and nearly lost life. Vowed when I got better I was going to start singing again...and I did in 1996. Started at my church, restaurants, local events, and I even joined a Barbershop Women's Chorus. I've made an inspirational CD. But, it's hard for someone with no contacts and in their late 40's to get a break. I'm still singing better than ever and enjoying every moment. However, I need to make money. I've worked in the corporate arena for years, but became tired of making money for other people. I picked up a camera in 1997 and really liked my new hobby. Who would have thought that I would be very good at taken pictures. Quickly moved to digital and been there ever since. I quit working my corporate job in 2004 and now pursuing my new career as a professional photographer. In this business they don't care how old you are, or how much weight you've gained...the only c...Expand for more
oncern is taking great photos. Of course this is the hardest and the most tiring work I've ever done, but it is also the most fulfilling. I love photographing my home town, San Francisco, and other place around California I'm trying to build my stock photos of other places I've been. One of my proudest moments is when I was asked to donate one of my photographs to hang in the Pentagon. I have this wonderful photo I took of the flag at Jack London Square in Oakland. There were six other Americans who were asked to donate one of their photographs. Our photos were hung during the "Restoring the Walls" ceremony on September 11, 2002. I could not attend the ceremony, but one of the guys who photos was hung with mine took a vacation to Washington DC and got a tour of the Pentagon. He took of picture of my photo with the others. I'm going to try and go see it next year. Well, maybe I'll get a chance to reconnect with some of you in the near future. Dec 2008 --- I've been working on a reunion for our class since last December. It is really starting to come together.
