Jeanie's Story
I have done and been many things. The last four years seem the most significant to me as they affect mt life today. In Nov of 08 I was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease. It is a pain to deal with but has progressed very little. In Feb 09 my younger, Timanna, passed away at age 30 after a short illness I was living in Northern New Mexico and she lived in Oakland. She was well known in the community for the work she had done on woman's issues and stopi.ng violence against woman. 350 people came to her memorial at Mills College , where she was class of '2002. IHaving so many come to honor her was humbling. She is very missed by her father, sister, her brother and myself.
In Sep of 09 we moved to Hillsboro OR into my dream house with huge gardens. In Dec of 09 my husband of 20 years declared he was a woman trapped in a mans body....Expand for more
The full process was over June 10. We were best friends so we kept living together. In April 2011 I had a surgery they told my family I had only 50% chance of living thru. In July 11 Phyllicia had some kind of breakdown and left me with the house and bankrupted us. My older Norah insisted I come live with her in the lovely large apartment she found for us in El Cerrito. At least Phyllicia paid my car note and the deposit on the apt and for the move she sends me a small amount every month And I get to stay on Intel's good insurance. I spend much of my time with Church activities and and the Senior Center as well as on my art projects. What has happened to me is just starting to sink in.
I know I am blessed to have raised two wonder kind decent and hard working women.
I truly hope my future will be more boring than my past!
