Jeanie's Story

Life After Troy, I went on to FJC, where I came out of my shell. I was captain of the drill team there, pretty amazing! I also at that time got into competitive Scottish dancing. Although I am officially "retired" from that, it provided lots of opportunities for me, like being in the Rose Parade. Not to mention several dear friends that I still treasure. After FJC it was on to CSUF and a degree in Psychology...which I never used, at least not officially. After many years working in retail management, I now have my all time favorite job as a Senior Designer for "Closet World". I meet lots of very interesting folks and have made a few new good friends. I get to fulfill my need to organize everything around me, too! I met my husband, Mark Marvin, back in 1984, in our church singles group. We've been very happily married for over 20 years. Mark is a great guy, very handsome too. Those of you who have met him can attest to both. We still attend that same church, Vineyard Christian Fellowship, where we are very involved. We unfortunatley didn't get to have kids, but we have 2 adorable dogs that we dote on: Miniature Schnauzers "Freddy" and "Fritzi". Mark's profession is in avaition; he is the Cessna Program Manager at Flight Safety International in Long Beach. He also enjoys restoring classic cars. In his "past life" he restored a 1964 Corvette and a 1937 Ford tr...Expand for more
uck, both of which are long gone. However, we're very proud of the 1961 Corvette convertible he finished about a year ago; now he's now starting in on a 1956 Cadillac that is a true land yacht. We belong to a local car club, "Classic Cruisers of North Orange County", and that keeps us pretty busy. You might run into us at "John Force Racing" at one of their cruise nights, as our club often plays host. We have a great life, but it's not been without challenges. 3 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer! I am doing great now, a 3 1/2 year survivor, looking forward to getting year 4 under my belt. Lots of women our age go through this, and I'd love to talk with anyone who is facing this. I love to offer advice and encouragement! I always thought it would be fun to live someplace besides Yorba Linda, but here I've stayed. Mark is a Fullerton guy who always wanted to live in YL,darn it! Some of you may remember my old house in the orange grove, growing up. Mark and I turned that into a real showplace, then sold to a developer for an offer we couldn't refuse! We are now 1 mile south; didn't get too far. I remember Troy fondly, because of the friends I made. Many are friends still! (Hi Cheryl, Kay, Lynn, Peggy, Barbara, and Belinda! Even my car club pal, Lynne, who attended the dreaded Sunny Hills High.) The 30th reunion was fun...here's hoping we do a 35th!
