Jeanne's Story
Life has been quite interesting and taken me on a path that I would never have imagined myself going down. I was quite shy in high school - boy did that change as I entered into the business world and had to fend for myself! I got involved in Equestrian Sports, mainly due to my love of horses, which took me to many foreign countries and two Olympic Games; Seoul, S. Korea in 1988 and Barcelona, Spain in 1992. Many wonderful memories to look back on and way too many photos! I have since retired from that line of work and just work part time with a thoroughbred race horse trainer. The fun part of that job is that I get to go to the high profile races, like the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. After all these years, I still love the horses!
In the spring of 2010, my husband and I finally moved into our dream house that we had build just west of Gettysburg, PA. We have 24 acres that sit up on a mountain top with a fantastic view. It is exciting to be in a home that we designed. I really feels great!
Going back to school days, I remember my first crush at River Dell. I was in 7th grade and I had an amazing crush on Allan Freedman. He and I are still friends and keep in touch. We laugh about old times, silly things we did, and the school dances that his dad used to drive us to. Funny how we make lasting friendships throughout our lives, and how preciou...Expand for more
s they really are. I am in touch with a few others from high school days, and finally made it to a reunion - our 50th! Wow, 50 years!
Finally made it to Maui, Hawaii in 2012. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday with his adult children and their spouses. We rented a great house with a spectacular view and infinity pool overlooking the ocean. Of course a fishing trip was in order - a flop since no one caught anything! But a fun time, just the same. Had to do the road to Hana and all the other sights recommended. Paddle boarding was a fun adventure as was visiting the lava fields. I hope to go back to Hawaii at some point to visit some of the other islands.
A few years back we went to Nicaragua to visit good friends who moved there 5 years ago. Have not seen them since they moved. They are enjoying their life down there so much - seems impossible to be that happy with your life and surroundings, but they are! After being there, I totally understand why they love it so much. But . . . now with the government problems, they have moved back to the states and will just visit their place in Nicaragua for now.
We finally have a grandchild, he turns two years old next week. Unfortunately, we will not be able to go out to visit him in CA due to the Covid-19. We plan on a trip when things get safe and we can travel. Thank goodness for FaceTime.
