Cora "Jeanne"'s Story

Life Hey All. Everyone knew me as Jean in school. I was one of the wild crowd that Rhonda Knapp ran with. Still 17, and six days after graduation I moved out of my Dad's house and in with Theresa Baltazar. In 1976 I moved to Newport Beach to care for my grandmother. 1978, saw grandma and I back in Hermosa Beach. In 1979, I moved up to Big Bear (where I'm living now). I met and married my first husband up here. Our son John Wesley (JW) was born in 1982. My husband, son, and I moved to Lucerne Valley to a 160 acre ranch, in 1986. He worked as a butcher at the local supermarket and I ran horses and cattle and had the obligatory chickens and geese. 1989, I left my husband (great guy and father, but a horrible husband) and moved back to Big Bear. We lived at my older sister's house. Found a job as an assembler in an electronics firm (I'm still there today but not in the same capacity), and rented a house. I proceeded to have the worst relationships imaginable. After having an epileptic seizure due to the one severe beating I got from the then boyfriend, I realized we had to get safe. Friends took me in and the Big Bear earthquake hit. The house left the foundation, the chimney came down into the house and there we were living in tents in the front yard. A girlfriend (in a similar situation) and I found a house. (good times). In 1993, I met my Rick and his then 4 year old daughter Kaela. Although, not technically married (been there, done that!) we've been together for 13+ years. Kaela is beautiful and Rick is one of the greatest people you could ever meet. He's gone through everything with me. Taken me to the hospital (twice)for stitches after s...Expand for more
eizures have cut my right eyelid open, even though he's had to endure the questions of abuse (not a chance this man would ever hurt me). Been through Gall Bladder surgery, kidney stones hysterectomy and breast cancer (bilateral mastectomies). Attended every chemo session with me for eight months and reconstructive surgery, and has never complained once. Well maybe once. He said if I cut my eye open one more time, I was going to have to walk to hospital (LOL). My life so far has been through the sweet and the sour. Even though it might sound pretty bad it has been mostly the sweet. School North Elementary, Pier Avenue Jr. High School-Hermosa Beach Mira Costa High School-Manhattan Beach College No time for college. Too busy trying to support myself. Workplace Worked at Juicy James waitressing(?) starting at almost 14. Worked at El Muchacho sales clerking and making jewelry for about a year from 15 to 16. At 16 I started working at the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce as a secretary. At around nineteen I cared for my grandmother. At 22 I moved to Big Bear and began waitressing again. Did that for 7 years and then had a horse and cattle ranch. in 1988, I started as an electronics assembler at my current place of employment, Ollila Industries, try saying that even once. I'm now the QA Manager, and do the repairs on any units that come in. We flush the friendly skies. We make the timing assemblies for the toilets of the major airplane manufacturers, ie. Boeing, Airbus, Embrarer, Bombardier, Gulfstream, Cessna, etc. It's all about the FAA. We also have a unit (Not toilet) on the F16 Military Really wanted to join the Marines.
