Jeanne's Story

I recently returned to school in pursuit of a teaching credential. Here are the highlights of the bio I post for my online classmates: I am a mermaid. No, I am not crazy. My husband had a portrait of me as a mermaid tattooed onto his arm. I am still getting used to it. Never in a million years would I have guessed that I would end up as tattoo art. You never know! (And never did I think I would tell my husband to shave his arm because I don't want a hairy chest! Life can be strange.) How many people can say that they are loved unconditionally (and return that love) by their spouse? My husband and I met over 28 years ago while I was still in high school. a wonderful husband and an extraordinary father. He is the housing and community development coordinator for a nearby city. I worked as a respiratory therapist at Stanford University Hospital and Lucille Packard Children¿s Hospital at Stanford. My specialty was pediatrics. I worked in trauma, critical care and with cystic fibrosis patients. It was an emotionally demanding job, yet exceedingly satisfying. After 10 years I decided to become a stay at home mom. My daughter is 20 and my son will be 13 in a couple of weeks. They are amazing people and a joy. I am an operational volunteer for the Girl Scouts of Northern California. I am the coordinator of 130 Girl Scout Troops, I direct a summer day camp, and I train adult volunteers.
