Jeanni's Story
Life
In 1989, my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She was only 53. I was living with her at the time and we were very close. Six months later she died. It changed my life forever.
I began to look at life differently and quit taking so many things for granted. The experience brought my siblings and I closer as we reconnected as adults.
A year later, I met a wonderful man (my now husband, Rick) who had experienced a similar life changing experience around the same time with the loss of his only brother.
We met playing in a co-ed softball league. He was very competitive and a strong athlete. I was a terrible player and asked only to be the catcher because I knew the pitcher could cover home plate for any "big play". That pitcher was Rick. late was stopped by none other than myself, as Rick missed the throw sent in from the outfield trying to cover home plate for me. I knew it was just luck, but he didn't. We were married about two years later.
Rick is a 1978 graduate of Columbia Schools. We have two wonderful children, Jake 14 and Rebecca, 12 who attend Northwest Schools. Rick works for FASCO DC Motors in Eaton Rapids (engineering manager) and after being a stay at home mom for 7 years, I started working as a library clerk for Northwest Schools. I've only been there 7 years. It has been a great place to work.
Our son Jake is on the Freshman football team and our daughter Rebecca is a cheerleader for the 7th/8th grade football team.
We are a very close family who enjoys spending time together and having lots of fun and laughs together.
