Jeannie's Story

Life Hi! I have had a very exciting life since high school. Through the next few years after graduation, I raced cars and snowmobiles, scuba dived, and flew ultralights. Yes, I was an adrenaline junkie - but I sure had fun! I am a paramedic - which sure does fill the adrenaline rush - and I am also an ordained minister. I have been a Christian clown for 25 years, as well. I was married to my childhood sweetheart in '73 and we had 2 girls. We were divorced in '82 and I eventually remarried. Unfortunately, that marriage didn't work, either, so I have been single again for many years now. Life has been very good to me! Read on to see what I've been up to... Workplace When my children were young, I was determined to raise them on my own - not a babysitter or a day care center. Therefore, I drove a school bus for most of those early years so I would be home when they were. We did without a lot of "stuff" for me to do this - but I did raise my kids when they were little. When I did work, I was service manager of a mobile home company and other, mainly management jobs. I was in trucking for 22 years. I drove over the road for 11 yrs. and then for 11 yrs. I was dispatcher, operations manager and terminal manager - still driving on weekends when needed or to pick up or deliver a load when the city guy was tied up. I changed careers in 2005 when I went into EMS work. This kind of work seems to be a "family affair". My youngest daughter is an EMT and has worked in Memphis, TN. My oldest daughter and I trained together for EMT, worked together on the emergency squad where we lived, as well as, on the job. We no longer work together, as we have both moved...Expand for more
. I have spent 18 yrs. as a youth pastor and am currently an ordained minister. I currently am a missionary in Uganda. I have been here since June 2018 and this is my permanent home now. We have an NGO that does medical right now and we will see where things go as we get going. We are opening a hospital with an emergency room and a children's center - clinic and hospital. Emergency will focus on trauma, cardiac and children. There is no one in this part of the country who can care for emergencies for those things. We will be the first in eastern Uganda. Our children's center will be updated with the newest equipment and able to handle whatever comes in - which there is no real care for children in eastern Uganda. I do preach when I am asked and I do an interactive workshop for abused women called " The Love Walk - the Path to Healing". It is a Bible based day of just learning where healing is and strengthening their relationship with the Lord. And helping them identify things in their lives that have come from abuse. It is a very successful workshop that has brought many good results so far. I do stay busy, to say the least. I have 2 girls, 15 grands, and so far 10 greats that I left in the States in 2018... and I have adotped a little one here who is now 3 1/2... she was 6 weeks when I started taking care of her and 6 months when I got custody. She is a major miracle in many ways and should have been dead at birth and again at 6 weeks old - and she should not have walked. But she is alive, she walks and runs and climbs normally now - and is so smart it is scary!!! She is a true blessing. So that is my life since high school!
