from my preteens until this day. Moved to Morgan Hill, California, in 1976 and then to Seabeck, Washington in '77. Studied creative writing and literature at UW, worked as an herbalist at Tenzing Momo in Seattle from 1982 to1984. Spent 3 years in Austin, Texas during that decade, but spent most of the decade in Seattle, where I became a street performer and eventually worked with Annie Gallup in a bluegrass band.
I continued to play bluegrass with 7 different bluegrass bands over a 21 year period in Northern Oregon, all over Washington, and parts of British Columbia. Also played in an acoustic swing jazz band (The Ramsey~Collins Band) for 17 years, a Texas Swing band called Naugahyde Ryde, a Bohemian group called Racogalu, and as a solo performer for elders playing mostly jazz standards.
Left Olympia after 20 years in 2011 and have been in Oregon's Rogue River Valley for 1 year; have made my way as a solo performer at various venues and as a sideman on mandolin in many bands and duos.
Spent 24 years practicing ecological edible and native landscaping and gardening in the Puget Sound; and many years before that at conventional gardening. . . but my mother and I always grew an organic garden before I left home.".
