Jeff's Story
Life
Too blessed! Thankful all the time!
45 now (9/10/2004), track and field participant, married to my junior high school sweetheart. Kids are 18, 13 & 8, so still raising them, but loving it! Trying to follow Jesus Christ.
School
High school was a blast, but I remember some tense times, mainly revolving around racial interaction my freshman year.
I think I had crushes on every girl at one time or another, and should have dated more :-( I remember lying about my sexual experience (imagine that!)
I need to thank Coach Gorin for putting me at offensive right guard on the JV football B-team my sophomore year. Though I'm sure my 120 lb frame was intimidating to the defensive linemen, quitting football was a smart decision that prevented me from being broken into multiple pieces. I remember Coach Dailey teaching me to hurdle my junior year while Pete Holmes was gliding over them effortlessly. I still hurdle now in masters meets!
College
Went to UT Austin straight out of high school in the summer and dropped out about 5 years later. I was always working fulltime, so school was tough. After getting married, Cindy and I decided that I should return, so with 110 hours and a 1.9 GPA, I shuffled into the UT Business school dean's office and pl...Expand for more
eaded my case. You had to have a 2.5 GPA at the time to graduate from the Business school, so I had to take about 50 more hours (averaging about a 3.7 GPA) to get my overall GPA up high enough to graduate. Still working fulltime, with a wife, a baby and a mortgage, this was one of the hardest times of my life. But I finally got that sheepsking, and look at me now! I'm twice the moron I once was!
Workplace
I've always worked in Austin. Through High School until 1978, I worked for my Dad at the Toggery Men's clothing store. In 1978, I started working for City National Bank in Data processing, and continued working for them when the department became part of EDS, the Plano-based computer service company. Around 1996, I worked for Liant Software Company. My 1st layoff occurred 4 months later, and I contracted for a few companies, including IBM, and then went back to work for EDS/NHIC. I later worked at Dejanews/Deja.com, and then Jump.net, before trying to be a headhunter. Now I have my own company, Sincerus, and I do small business computer support. It's a TON O' FUN! I don't think I could ever work for someone else again!
Military
Never was in the military, but am extremely grateful for those that put their lives on the line for our country!
