Jeff's Story
Life
I remember one time when one of the 'crazy' members of the Mac dorm actually shoved a pipe through the wall and poured water or some substance on Jeff's head. I can't remember Jeff's last name. People were pretty radical there at times. I also remember watching this same 'crazy' person turn the vending maching upside down or somthing. That was wild.
One particularly 'interesting' even happened unexpectedly one warm night. Somebody said that they were setting off the fire alarms in Ballard. The catch was that before all the girls came spewing out of the doors the guys in Mac set up chairs in a line in front of their dorm and sat waiting for the girls. The best part was that the guys had signs numbering 1 through 10 to 'rate' the girls appearance as they hurried out of the building. It was hilarious! Well... at least the guys thought it was...
College
I remember having a moment of panic the first time I visited the cafeteria. I thought I was in an all girls school! My panic however, quickly subsided when I realized that it was somewhat populated by men also. Lemmie tell you, It sure didn't make finding a date very hard. a of women I wasn't always focused on this. Well, not most of the time. When I think about it in reality, I really didn't 'date' that much when I was there. I was pretty focused on getting my degree in exactly two years time. It had only taken me about 6 years to finally get through with Community College. I went steady for about 3 years and then worked for a while and went back and forth. When I got saved in 1978 everything in my life radically changed. The direction of my education eventually changed to Religion/Biblical Studies. So, I was finally confident about what I wanted to do and went for it at Whitworth.
I always felt a bit 'old' when I was at Whitworth. That's because I was actually about 10 years older than most students. Especially in Warren and Mac where I lived during my stay. Everybody treated me well even though I was the 'geriatric' member of the dorm.
I was proud of the fact that Tim Velhausen (anybody know where he's at now?) re-constructed our Macmillan dorm so that the beds were 7 feet off the floor with a ladder going up between them. It was cool!
I also loved the waterfights we had occasionally...
I'll write more later...
