Jeff's Story
Jeff Decker is the Chief of the Management and Operations branch within the Coast Guard’s Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety.
Jeff came to the office of Recreational Boating Safety in 2015 as a State Program Coordinator and served in that position until promoted to the Regulatory Program Manager where he guided the implementation of Uniform Code of Titling Act for Vessels (UCOTA-V), new fire fighting equipment requirements and engine cut off switch regulations..

of the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries (now DWR) program. While with Virginia, he participated in the research and development of the National Boating Education Standards and chaired the Navigation Rules subcommittee for NASBLA. He also holds the distinction of being selected as a NASBLA National Boating Safety Education Officer of the year while working for Virginia.
He is a court certified boating safety expert, NSBC-certified RBS instructor, and a retired Coastie. He has written two RBS books and produced a series of RBS videos that have garnered over 1 million YouTube views (search BoatCourse).
