was doing crypto/communications in the Navy on the data side; voice telephony couldn’t be that much different. I left my wife Dawn in Virginia, went home for an interview, the day I got back to Virginia, I got the call that they wanted me to come work for MCI as a technician in Cleveland. Cleveland was far enough from most of the family and near enough to be there just in case. Since then, it has been a wild and exciting ride. Up to the point that Worldcom destroyed us, MCI was flying high, a brand name to all households. I worked my way up into Management, working and managing all positions in field operations. Worked as a Sr. Staff for the Director of then, the North Central Territory. Today, I’m still in Management in the Cleveland, Ohio area. In the 5 years Worldcom destroyed us; the company went into bankruptcy, surfaced again from bankruptcy as MCI and will soon be acquired by Verizon. I manage one of the largest operations facilities MCI has, in North Royalton, Ohio. Verizon will be a much better fit for us then Worldcom was, such a shame, company like MCI built itself; “OUT OF JOB”, yep, we brought down the cost of long distance, now days, they just give it away. But, you never noticed that with your local phone bill or cable bill, have you….. Military After high school, joined the US Navy and served 5 years, all state side, training and tours. Went out on ship for two weeks, on military training/exercise up and down the Atlantic coast. Spent most of my time in Virginia, not in Norfolk, a small security site on the North Carolina line, near the dismal swamps. Got lonely, married my high school sweet heart, we had lots of fun, still in our teens and FREE!!!!!! Made a point to enjoy ourselves for 6 years before we had any children.
