Jeff's Story
Since the reunion is just a few weeks away, I thought I might as well update my profile story a little.
After a couple of years at VVC after high school I joined the army so I wouldn't get drafted and went into the aviation field. Maybe not the wisest of choices for a couple of trips to VietNam, but then I haven't always been the brightest bulb in the hallway. I managed to survive the trips to beautiful southeast aisia with a stint between tours at Ft Sill, Oklahoma. While there I met the Now Mrs Froude. We married in 1970 (just a few months prior to Army inviting me back to VietNam.
When I got home, we started having kids, Christopher, followed 2 years later by Tony. Both of these boys are Texans, having been born at Ft Hood during our 4 1/2 year stay there. Texas was followed by what had to be one of the greatest assignment that could be had in the Army, we spent a little over 4 years in the Panama Canal Zone, (well, 31/2 years in the Zone and the last year in Panama...Expand for more
....it was givin back to the Panamanians) Our #3 son, Jeffrey II was born in the Canal Zone about 6 weeks before it was turned back over. After Panama, it was back to Ft Hood Texas for about 2 years until I was afforded the opportunity to leave the ranks of enlisted man and I accepted an appointment as a Warrant Officer.
Interestingly, my first school as a Warrant was to go through the Test Pilot course of OH-58 helicopters. Interesting, because I am not an aviator or a pilot. Who says you cant bluster your way through a school on pure bull crap. Anyway, this brought an assignment to Ft Riley Kansas, birthplace of our baby girl. Vicki is 30 now, and a professor at Notre Dame, but is and will be our Baby.
I'm looking forward to meeting with old friends again and having old friends meet JoAn. Bob Nale and Hubba both met her in 1970 but nobody else has.
Hoping to see everybody in a couple of weeks.
My golf game has also improved by about 15 strokes since the 30th reunion
