Jeff's Story
How typical the Class of 71 would have a storm blow off their reunion!? We were the class that spent what 4 years selling magazine subscriptions, candy, etc etc all for the infamous "Senior Trip" which they must have threatened taking away from us how many times? All for a sad and sorry day trip to some place called the Homowac Lodge!???? My God the name alone should have spoken volumes. I remember being so upset by the choice and the sparsity of the event we all had worked so diligently for (Most of those magazine subscriptions never ever got to the people I sold them to I might add! Where the hell did the money go?) that I took a pass on the whole thing. Though I never held it against my fellow students I know enough about how property taxes work now to know how well funded the school district was and how hollow and misleading the constant claims of lack of budget and no ability to afford the simplest things that a school system should have paid for. (From simple gym equipment to musical instruments for the band the list is too long to go into)

long time to blossom and only in my Junior and mostly Senior years did I manifest some of the attributes of the comedian/writer/radio host I would become a few years after leaving GCHS. It only took 40 years but I finally got something out of Glen Cove's dubious school system and it's called The Big Yellow House. A book and hopefully a screenplay is being worked through the very new process of selling such things but I have a strong belief it will succeed. The book is about my very whacked upbringing on the North Shore of Long Island. There have not been many books written about the area and while GCHS is not the total focus of the book the school system in general is and hopefully classmates who never got to know me will see a different but funny and at times very wild new view of how one perspective of growing up Glen Cove went down.
I hope to be visiting New York during the reunion I do have to chuckle at how so many already know they can't make it. I know only one thing the more "plans" you make the more likely something else will come up before hand.
