Jeff's Story
Life
I moved to Rockledge, Florida in July 2004 after living in Salinas,California for 22 years from 1982 until 2004. My wife Lauren (a Loan Servising Manager for Space Coast Credit Union) and our children Danielle, 19, Amanda, 18 and Jared, 17 love living in Florida. I had lived in Salinas since I got out of the Army in 1985 as a Captain.
In 1976 my family moved to Winter Park, Fla. because my father retired. In 1977, my father (50 years old) died of cancer at the begining of my senior year in high school. After graduating from Winter Park High School in 1978, I went to the University of Florida in Gainesville. Go Gators!!!!! In 1981, I graduated from U of F with a degree in Broadcast Production and went into the Army as a 2LT.
In 1985, I started my career in financial services as a stock broker with Dean Witter in Salinas. In 1989, I went the self employment route and became an agent with New York Life. I also was able to pursue my desire to be a political consultant. I ran over 90 campaigns from 1986 until 2006 and worked races from city council, to mayor, to county supervisor, to judge, to sheriff, to state assembly, to congress, to the presidency for George Bush in 1988.
In 2000 I became a fee based financial planner or Registered Inves...Expand for more
tment Advisor. I retired from New York Life and Eagle Strategies and moved my practice to Cambridge Investment Research Inc in February of 2007. Since all my business is still in California, I travel there every 7 weeks for a week to meet with clients face to face.
My wife Lauren (second marriage for both of us) and I have been married since 1994. Don't even want to discuss the first marriage. Am I the only one who had to marry the wrong person in order to be able to regognize the right person when I tripped over her?
Because my family moved so much I felt like a stealth student. 10 schools in 12 years. But from 1972 to 1976 I was with the same group of classmates. First at Canterbery Elementary (6th grade,) then Washington Irving (7th grade,) then Lake Braddock (8th and 9th grade). If you look in your yearbooks I am really there. Really!!!
Lauren and I are looking forward to being empty nesters when our youngest, Jared, graduates in May of 2008. In July of 2005 Lauren and the kids and I visited the Washington DC area for 10 days. We went by all the old Annandale places including Lake Braddock. If you find yourself in Florida, look us up in the book. We are the only Jeff and Lauren Johnson in Rockledge (population 22,000). 05/17/07
