Jeff's Story
Life
Since they seem to want to know your life story, here goes:
After high school, I attended Mount Wachusette Community College for 2 years. I was short one class so I didn't graduate as originally planned, but I did make up that class a few years later and got an AA in Liberal Studies (see how far that gets you in an interview....) I joined the Army at 24 and spent 4 years as a Microwave Communications Technician. The 1st year was tech training at Ft. Gordon, GA and the last 3 years were spent at the Yuma Proving Grounds in Yuma, AZ. When I got out, the Army hired me as a civilian employee doing the same job I did in the military. In 1990, I joined the Federal Aviation Administration as a Radar/Automation technician. I spent the next 8 years as a tech at the Minneapolis Air Traffic Control Tower. I g...Expand for more
ot promoted to a Technical Support job for a 4 state area and eventually wound up as the Radar and Automation lead for the Great Lakes Region in Chicago. In 2004 I became the manager of the Great Lakes Region Telecommmunications and Spectrum Engineering section. Along the way I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Southern Illinois University in Electronics Management.
I've been married for 24 years and have a 21 year old son in his 3rd year of College. God help us, he wants to be a lawyer and politician.........
In January 2006 I took a job as the Operations Lead for the FAA's telecommunications system. It's a challenging job with never a dull moment, but it's definately worth the effort.
I am currently the FAA's Telecommunications Network Operations Manager. Not bad considering Mr. Rooney in my 10th grade Algebra class said I probably wouldn't go anywhere with my math skills.....
