Jeff's Story

Hi Friends, This is just a short note to say hi and that I'm just going to be on here as a gold member for the free 7 day trial. I like free stuff! I got married to Ruth Ann in '76 while on my 3rd year in the Marines and we are still going strong. I served for 4 years and got out in '77. In '78 we had a baby boy (Tyler), he's 29 now and 4 years later he got a baby sis (Jillian), she is 25 and her and her hubby Brian gave us our 1st grandchild (Landon) last year. He just turned 10 months old. Since '77 we lived in CA for 4 years, then about 4 years in Dallas, then back out to CA again. In '87 we moved to the Houston area and have been there ever since. I worked for UPS while in Dallas and loved that type of work, so during our last stay in CA I got on with Fedex and this April will mark 25 years. I enjoy the hustle of the job and the many people I deliver to, although this hasn't helped my conversational skills (after about 3 minutes I run out of things to say..HA!...on to my next delivery!) Having a grand baby to love on has us longing to be closer to him, so I'm in the process of getting things in order so we can move back. They live in Wylie and mom lives in Rowlett with Monica and Ed, so we will move somewhere close to them. I can transfer with Fedex and hope to transition into the dispatch operation of that job for the rest of my career. Ruth Ann was a stay-at-home mom until Jillian graduated high school, then she worked for a Christian bookstore until last year. She has always loved animals, so I got her started in her own business of being a professional pet sitter. Check it out at top notch petsitting. We plan on bringing her wonder...Expand for more
ful service with us when we come. I still love rodeo and the outdoors, physical fitness, classic rock, blues, Jimi Hendrix, and the Lord (what a sentence!, but if you know me, it will make sense). Friends from high school might not know that I am a Christian, but became a "Forever Friend" of Jesus when I was 7, that's the term we use for the young kids we teach. I have been teaching 3rd-6th graders about Jesus since I was 20 at the churches we have attended. I love the church we attend now, Clear Creek Community Church in League City. It is very similar to Lakepointe in Rockwall if you've ever been there. My ride is a '57 Chevy pickup that is all original and running good, but I plan on restoring it "resto-mod" in the near future. I am still 5'8 and 147 with a little less hair, most of which is gray. My life is blessed because God has watched over me all the way and still is. I went to my 30th class reunion in 2003 and was in awe of the people I saw there. Those of you that were there really made that event special. I only danced one dance, to "Brown eyed girl" by Van Morrison, man I ain't got the moves like I used to (Ha!), so for a Christmas gift, I signed Ruth Ann and I up for dance lessons (the spicy Latin ones!). Once I was asked by the school newspaper reporter why I had started riding Bareback broncs in the rodeo instead of just bulls and I said, "It's a new experience." That's how I feel about the dance lessons, writing this bio, and each new day the Lord gives me. I'm gonna enjoy it and my life. My gold membership will end next Saturday, Feb.9. If you want to contact me after that, my email address is jmoncrief025 at hot mail. Jeff
