Jeffery's Story
Life
After 20 years on active duty in the Navy, I'm now working for Computer Sciences Corporation. I spend my spare time at the Pensacola Beach either fishing, boating, or just enjoying the sun and scenery.
I love watching DVD's with an awesome surround sound system on a wide screen HD TV. Can't wait for the new DVD players to come out the end of this year (2005) that will play HD DVD's. New DVD's should also be available at the same time. If you have the $$$'s, get the gear!!!
I have two sons that are night and day. Anthony (A.J.) will graduate high school in '06. He attends West Florida High School of Advanced Technology. A real brainiac. He's a pretty gifted programmer. He's already proficient in C++, Visual Basic, Java Scripting, PHP, Macromedia Flash, among just a few. He's also a monster with some of the more powerful graphic and web design software. And I thought I was pretty good at designing websites. He totally blows me away.
My "youngest", Michael, is more of the Jock type. He's a real extrovert. Gets along with everyone, and isn't afraid to speak his mind. Jocularity is in his blood. Just the other day he was studying for a State Capitol test. He raised his hand and asked his teacher "'Looee-ville' or 'Lewis-ville', what's the proper way to pronounce the capitol of Kentucky?" The teacher replied, "I believe it's 'Looee-ville'". Michael said, so everyone could hear, "I thought it was pronounced 'Frankfurt'!" Everyone laughed, but the teacher.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. More to come later.
School
Essex Elementary is where I started my life long educational endeavor. Wish I had put more effort into school then so things wouldn't seem so difficult now. Over the years however, I've continued to strive for...Expand for more
a better understanding of the world in which we live. Litchfield JH was next, but I moved to Munroe Falls mid-way through the 9th grade. Attended Stow HS (the oooold HS) through junior year. Was also attending Kent Roosevelt HS half days to take the electronics vocational program. Moved down the street the summer before my senior year and had to transfer to Cuyahoga Falls HS. I know almost nobody from my graduating class. Miss many friends I hung out with back in the day. Keep in touch with just a couple. If you want to get in touch, just search my name in google and my recipe website will come up (usually #1). Drop us a line.
College
I'm currently working on my BS through Excelsior College. They allow you to test your way through a degree program based on life experience and self-study. I hope to have it completed before the end of 2004. Also taking a prep-class for MCP/MCDST/MCSA certifications. I'll be retiring from the Navy in the summer of 2005 and need to improve my resume. More to follow.
Military
(Written-4 Nov 2005)
Been retired from the Navy for several months now and not looking back. But I guess since I'm writing this I am looking back, huh? Life has its ups and downs lately. Somebody stop this rollercoaster. I think I'm going to hurl.
(Written-March 2004)
Enlisted in the Navy one year after graduation; I have been in now for 19 plus years. Currently stationed at NATTC Pensacola as an Aviation Electronics Technician Instructor, but for the past 2 years I've been working as a curriculum developer, revising current lessons and creating new lessons to help keep up with today's high paced technology field. I'm at a navy dot mil email address. Most navy folks use there full first name dot last name. Can you guess mine?
