Jeffrey's Story

In July 1974, I went into the Army as a Computer Operator. Thank God we had a family friend (Ret. Major) who knew people at the Pentagon and got me to Germany instead of Texas. Spent 3 ½ years there and traveled a lot around Europe. Paris (4 times) is my favorite! Good thing I took French at SHS! Reenlisted for another 3 years and got out. Everyone expected after 6 yrs in the Army, that I would make a career (I understand that Don Boland is a retired Admiral) of it. If I had, I wouldve never met my wife and had really great kids. Isnt it funny how life turns out? I moved to Los Angeles in 1980 and lived there for 9 years. My apartment overlooked Paramount Studios and I would frequent the bar outside the studio¿s front gate and got to meet a lot of the Movie and TV stars of the 80s. Some were down to earth and others were snooty. My parents and brother moved from Salem to Port Charlotte, FL in 1978 so I moved there in 1989. We are all together again and live about 20 min apart. We took the camper to Salem and Lake Winny back in 1999. The house I grew up in (1963 $26K) was on the market for $250K!!! It was great eating potato chips at the old Chip Factory, but as you know, it sadly no longer exists. We visited relatives at Lake W. Have done a lot of different things down here, but mostly Sales and Marketing. I have a daughter (Kristen-20) and a son (Jason-18). Kristen goes to school in the Orlando area. Son Jason is a Comp Repair Tech and got his GED in lieu of attending Sr year so he could work FT. He is an absolute genius with computers and electronics. He also makes great side money fixing and building computers f...Expand for more
rom scratch for people. Back in 2004, Hurricane Charley went through our backyard (165 mph winds!) and did damage but $80K from the insurance company fixed all that and improved the house. After 20 years down here, a little tired of FL (miss the seasons, no real woods to hike in and no elevation!). I love camping, fishing, cooking, bowling and collecting old books and magazines. Became a Born Again Christian in 1997 and have been blessed with a great church and a ton of brothers and sisters that I can call close friends and entertainment time is mostly spent with them. I am currently working on a sermon about accepting Christ as an adult that I will deliver to the congregation. Got Divorced in April 2010 after 20 yrs. Lots of drama in that divorce. Wife remarried and lives in TN. Drop me a note and share some photos of your families. I can be reached at jpl619 through Gmail. Would appreciate it if someone could let me know when our 35th Reunion is going to be, as I have not made any to date. I noticed that 95%(?) of you don¿t have any information about yourselves. Whats the point of joining if you dont let us former classmates know what has been going on in your lives since 1974? I have just given you a pretty good 35 year update. Now, its your turn! I wish you and your families all the best and look forward to hearing from you soon. Jan 2010 Starting up my own Marketing & Sales company. Everything in place. Will be quite lucrative considering the varied client base and my varied services. (Why do all the apostopheses end up looking like inverted question marks??? Is it just me?) God Bless you and your families! :-)
