Jeffrey's Story
Life
I'm retired from the Air Force after 25.5 years on 1 May 2005. Spent most of it in the South Pacific. I was married twice with a boy from each, which I have raised each myself. Josh is 26 years old and a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force, and Brandon is 11 years and enjoying his childhood here in Alamogordo New Mexico. I'm working civil Service now and starting a new chapter in my life! Oh! One more thing finally got in contact with my high school sweetheart after 30 years...Some of you may know her...she is still so beautiful! Thousands of memories of the awesome times we all had back then. Well I'm still here in New Mexico as a single DOD civilian. 2013 is one of my milestones to reflect as I've lived here 10 years and this is the longest stay in one place of my entire life. Time certainly appears to be speeding up, so I need to bring my story up to date. Vandenberg AFB California will always have a special place? in my heart. The friends that came in and out of life life during our school years were the last ones to know those dreams you wanted happen in the future. The truth is we go were the world needs us. I didn't know I would become a Lineman in the Air Force, but it was a lifelong fit for me. OK back to my story. My oldest son born in 1980 finally gave me a gorgeous granddaughter last June awesome! If you ask me to describe a way a person feels during most important or personal events in ones life I would come up with the perfect word(s). We lost dad to cancer in 2008 and mom to a weak heart in 2011. I wa...Expand for more
s devastated completely. I'm still not fully over the immense sorrow I felt. I'm so glad they had a "bucket list" an for 10 years prior to their passing they lived life to the fullest...no regrets. My other son is Brandon born 1995 is a smart kid, but could not jump over year 17 like his old man. I'm worried but time has shown me that he too will find his place in society. Finally the last item to update reconnecting with my high school sweetheart. It was the single most important thing I ever did as it heal and so many questions that had haunted throughout my life. Unfortunately she was married and has 4 beautiful girls. We had to do the right thing. It was true love and their is no greater expression said than the one i delivered to Kim. After all those year...she was the love of my life. I went Sacremento last summer to see my granddaughter. I planned my trip so I could go by all the places around Vandenburg to remember the good times. We stop at the beaches, off base housing Mulberry court. Contractors had temporary fences around all street and courts only the foundations remained. A worker allowed us to walk around the area. So many memories. The two elementary schools Los Padre and Loma Vista lost since renamed were still standing for adult schools. I got in trouble and left in 10th grade 1977. Went up to my sister station at Travis AFB came down once a month to my parents, and slipped off to see Kim every night until she broke off with me. I never stop thinking of her. Life can be tough and she will be my only regret.
