This was Xiajie’s pic. As I said, it was like the Eye of God slowly opening.
At totality. It seemed like the sky went dark and the ring snapped into where the sun used to be. And the crowd there just cheered. You could also see way across the lake where the shadow ENDED and it wasn’t dark. Weird.

Jacob at Welding merit badge class. Wasn’t sure it was him except I bought that shirt and those boots.
I didn’t even recognize him at first. More Jacob learning welding. He’s actually doing a bunch - graphic design, oceanography, motorboating, pulp and paper - and welding. Plus he’s evidently using his bike (finally).
Last time going to summer camp. Next year he goes to Seabase and he’ll leave Scouts. Jacob is designated as Senior Patrol Leader for the trip. By the time he makes Eagle, he should have earned about fifty merit badges.
