Life
Very brief bio:
After graduating from Howell High School I went to Adrian College
for one year and then to Western Michigan University where I graduated in 1974. I then went to Princeton Theological Seminary
for one year (1974-75) and transferred to Boston University where
I graduated with a Master of Divinity in 1978 and a Doctorate in
1983. From 1978-81 I was a Residence Hall Director for Boston
University; from 1981-84 I was the Associate Minister of the Wilton
Congregational Church in Wilton, CT and I coached football at Wilton
High School.
I got an officer commission in the Navy as a Navy Chaplain in December of 1984. I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA; Diego Garcia; a telecommunications station in Hawaii; onboard USS ARKANSAS (nuclear powered ...Expand for more
cruiser); the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA; USS CONSTELLATION (aircraft carrier); Marine Corps Base Hawaii; Camp Smith, Hawaii; and, I retired after 23 years of service from the Marine Corps Combat Development Command in Quantico, VA. I then went to work for the Combat Operational Stress Control Branch for Headquarters Marine Corps (Jul07-Jul09) and worked for the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (Jul09-May15).
I have competed in about 35 marathons and 80 triathlons (including three Hawaii IRONMAN triathlons), and I continue to train.
I have two sons, Scott (24) and Noah (19) who are both in college in graduate school at Shenandoah U (Scott) and Norwich U (Noah).
I live in Traverse City, Michigan.
