Jeffrey's Story

Life Hello everyone. I have pretty much disappeared completely from Wisconsin since 1984 only returning on 3 occasions since. For those of you who know me, you may recall I always had it in my mind to leave and move to California, which I did¿.twice. I am currently residing in San Diego for about 9 years now and loving every minute of it. Here is the run down since the old days. Went to school for music and graduated (UCLA 1992). Found out that there is no money in music education so I got my long hair cut and took a sales job in Phoenix with a company called Arizona Office Equipment. Surprise surprise the kid can sell. I worked my way into top sales spots and in about 2 years as Sales Manager. Got an offer from a company called Ikon who moved me to Dallas, TX for about 2 years and things went VERY well...got married to a blonde haired beauty. Ikon promoted me to a VP spot in San Diego so I got to go back to the coast. Left Ikon, left the wife (too long to explain and yes it was me who left) and took a job with a high tech Manufacturing firm. Did very well until the company was bought out and moved to Florida...worked for software firm for a few more years then they got bought out and moved the operation to Milwaukee (can you believe it!!?) took a job with a publishing firm which I HATED....talk about BORING! So I took over a home health care agency and now employ about 60 people and serve about 40 clients through the greater San Diego area. Any of you who really knew me, would remember that I worked for a nursing home in high school and most of you thought I was crazy for that. Well, sometimes things come full circle in life and now I assist the elderly each day to do everything I can to keep them from going into a nursing home and keep them in their homes. I am still in a band (actually 2 bands one is called Chain Reaction and the other Spectrum), still playing guitar (I now own 15 of them) and still spending all my pennies on new equipment. Several Fenders, Several Gibsons, Boogies, Marshal, Vox, Fender amps...dozens of foot pedals, recording equipment, rack ...Expand for more
gear etc..tons of gear. Happily single but do have someone special in my life now. I still have all my hair, not gray at all, weigh in at about 175 and just turned 43. I have 2 dogs Rocky 13 (shih-tzu) and Ringo 11 (Lhaso) . Favorite movie is still The Godfather I and II and I also loved Goodfellas, Rocky I (named my dog after it) and Tombstone. Favorite band is The Beatles, Rush, Dream Theater, King's X, Kansas and favorite musician is still Phil Keaggy (though he has gotten quite boring in his old age) but also love Eric Johnson and Eddie Van Halen. Still have a deep faith as many of you may recall even spent 2 years going to a divinity school but it just was not my bag all said and done. I guess the one thing about me that would surprise many people is that I did not pursue the ministry and instead became business man and part-time musician. Some of you might also be surprised that I grew my hair very long in my mid 20's all the way around and to the middle of my back! I was always such a clean shaven kid!!! Sheesh!! But I grew my hair long, lost a bunch of weight and went on tour for 3 years to see if I could make something of my music. Then I got a haircut and real job. The teachers that still stand out and had a lasting impact on me were Mr. Schwartz (he was tough but good!!) and Mr. Shilcox as I would think he reached just about everyone. I still laugh when I think about Fr. Neville too. Also miss Mr. Dufor...he really gave me a chewing out once but communicated how bad he felt about it afterwards....one of the greatest teachers I ever had in retrospect and SUPER funny too. If I could have one do-over it would have been to skip my whole first marriage and fast forwarded to San Diego. I have lived all over the country and LOVE it in California....here's to living the dream and living CLEAN!! That's all I can think of and hopefully if you are reading this, I bring back good memories of another era. Being young was easy compared to owning a home and paying the bills huh? Anyway, don't be shy and looking forward to hearing from any of you. Jeff: November 2008
