Thomas H's Story

I grew up in this part of Los Angeles. Yep, but found it very alive...Watts and Southwest LA. Anyway after High School I began working at Queen of Angels Hospital waiting to start community college but, wouldn't you know it, the Marines got me that November 67 and by May 68 WIA,I was in the Hospital for 4 months (my head was broken, fx skull), and that September I was returned to duty and saw Nam again, but not before obtaining a Security Clearance!!!!) in June 69. " I met my Maker and I had seen the Glory of the Lord", and had no fear because I was at Peace within myself. After my tour was up I was able to get out of the Marines on June 27th, 1970 (actually released from active duty upon return from the Nam) 18 months early. Worked for PSA (LAX) that summer then in Sept 70, returned to Health care (Queen of Angels Hospital) studies at East LA college (JUST IN TIME FOR THE EAST LA RIOT), ran into Mr Tommasui who was my 10th grade biology teacher at WHS, teaching Anatomy and physiology at ELAC. From there I completed my BS -at CalStateLA and entered a Master's program. WORK, OH YEAH. in 1972 I entered the new field of Neonatalogy (NEWBORN BABIES) and have since been in involved in NICU at a number of hospitals. Family, 1st marriage 10 years (to a Nurse) we had adopted my niece at 4 months due to her mother's death. 2nd marriage, after living together for 6 years, son Jared and step son David. And now on recently adopted my grandson.! However, all during that time, my major focus(reading, computing and reviewing tax laws) kept me in on Taxes....Actually now my major source of income. I've since worked on call at various hospitals in the Los Angeles area (Pasadena, Glendale, Monterey Park, and a few others out of state). Life has been interesting to say the least, but overall it has been a Wonderful One, thank God I am still alive. Hoping all of the best and god bless... And too all the People in my life, my heart goes out to you and I only hope for the best to you. Traveling must, maybe before I can't. And within this last update (Dec 2009), can only say that I am still here, survived being hit by car-on foot-10th time, guess, "someone up there likes me!". Hoping to talk at you soon. ember 1970. I have spent the major part of my life working within Neonatal ICU (anyway since 1972) at various hospitals. I did so until July 2002 injured, at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. I returned to work in August 2004, and now retiring in Dec 2009 after being hit by car in crosswalk in front of St John's hospital Santa Monica. I hope to return sometime, so I plan on keeping my RCP License. My business, THJ TAX Service (now a Partnership) is my other career, which has provided a good life and options I wouldn't have in the hospital. Looking for some good tax advise, just call (626) 674-5236. COMPASSION IS MY WAY OF LIFE! Good luck to all. Semper Fi Tommy bt Military Don't go, unless you are willingly ready to give up your personal freedom... And ready to be told to do things that you can not agree with, IN YOUR MIND OR HEART. Overall the Marine Corps way of life is and has, and will always be that way. Many of the top Brass that call the orders are ready to place "YOUR LIFE", on the line, based on political believe that are many times bias. Review our military history for the last 200+ years, they either have to change their mission and direction by the party in charge, more aimed at human needs and less towards destruction. Or, perhaps, it will not survive in it's current form or it will separate this Nation and ideals.... After our current War in Iraq, many of the mistakes made will come out, but in the end, it is the Veterans that will carry those mistakes, made by others in their Hearts and minds for their entire live. And the economy of the World will suffer(2004). Semper Fi, Thomas H Jenkins, USMC 1968-70 bt September 10, 2009 - returned last week after 4 weeks (GF had surgery after an accident there, excellent care!!!!!) in Thailand, and Hong Kong and Shanghai and Lhasa Tibet (May 2009). "Could the cost of War be spend in other, more Human ways?" Since last writing new President, the war in Iraq seems to be winding down, but Afghanistan is up (maybe the best way out is to just leave, like in a bad relationship and just start fresh. The economies of the WORLD have craved in, due to the over all credit and free spending. This is probably more good than bad, brings everyone into focus with what is real and what is meaningful in life. Let's see what can happen in the next 12 months PS (Dec 1,09) Hit by car on Santa Monica Bl, while in crosswalk at St Johns, guess someone up there likes me. THJ 06162010 - OFF TO ARGENTINA, BUENOS AIRES WITH SO. Did Spain, Italy, France (Southern) and Amsterdam this Oct 2010. Off to Floria, Allure of the Seas, tomorrow. Always meeting new friends and sometimes, out of nowhere an old friends shows up. 11/17/2011 - RETURNED TO VIETNAM AFTER 42 YEARS, SAW CHU LAI AND AIRPORT, THE COUNTRY IS GROWING AND JUST ABOUT ALL SIGNS OF WAR ARE GONE. NOW AT PEACE. BANGKOK FOR 3 WEEKS, NEVER GOT WET. WONDERFUL PLACES. 2012 TAX SEASON - WOW, THIS IS THE MORE THAN I CAN HANDLE, TOO MANY CLIENTS......HAD TO TURNED DOWN MANY. HOPEFULLY BY THIS TIME NEXT YEAR I WOULD BE MORE PREPARED FOR HEAVY TRAFFIC.
