Jennifer's Story
College
A brief synopsis of my academic life...
After graduating from Edina I headed off to the East Coast for college. There, I spent 4 fantastic years at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, where I received a BA with a double major in Government and History and a minor in economics.
After receiving my diploma, I threw on my tennis shoes and an oversized backpack and spent a good portion of the summer traveling Europe with a very close friend.
Once I was back stateside, I packed up my life -- and bags -- and moved south to Washington, D.C. to attend graduate school at American University. The next two years were spent with my nose in books, my fingers punching away on a keyboard, and my spare time spent at a more-than-part-time job. Finally, my reward for all of my hard work, was my Masters degree in International Economic Policy.
And today, believe it or not, I am working in a job that relates to all of my schooling. Check out my job profile to learn more...

I was attending graduate school at American University, I began working as a part-time employee at the U.S. Department of Commerce through a special program that gave students credit at work for their graduate work, and credit at school for their government employment. Upon graduation, I was converted into a full-time employee as a program analyst at the International Trade Administration at the Department of Commerce.
Now, some 14 years later, I am still employed at Commerce, but I now work in the Office of Business Liaison in the Office of the Secretary. Over the years I have been extremely fortunate and have traveled to dozens of countries all over the world and worked on a wide variety of issues, mostly focusing on international trade and the expansion of the global economy.
And, just to prove that this isn't enough, I also have been a bartender at a neighborhood bar for the last 10+ years.
Both jobs have allowed me to appreciate the uniqueness of Washington, D.C. in very different ways.
