Life
My kids (Cameron, age 12 and Emily, age 9) and I are now living in perfect (and chaotic) harmony with my significant other, Steve and his kids (Tayler, age 14 and Triston, age 10). The two boys are the best of buds and when we are not working we are most likely at a hockey rink at one of their games/practices. They also like playing on dirt bikes and on their tricked-out golf carts, and are both budding musicians - Triston likes the drums and Cameron plays guitar and violin. Tayler, Steve's 14-year-old is a beautiful smart fun teenager, who plays sax and volleyball. Emily is my sassy one - has type 1 diabetes, but never lets it slow her down! She is bouncing, singing, giggling, and making a mess everywhere she goes.
Steve is the best guy ever - smart, fun, adorable, and so full of life, ambition and adventure. On top of that, he's the best father I have ever known. He works for the same organization that I do, and has a real estate gig on the side. He's originally a Montana cowboy, but he's in Alaska to stay and my kids and I are sooooo lucky to have him in our lives. Being a great dad is at the top of his "favorites" list, and he enjoys four-wheeling, snowmachining, fishing and golf - and loves sharing those things with me and all the kids!
We have property at Montana Creek (just outside Talkeetna) and we ...Expand for more
spend lots of time up there four-wheeling, snow machining, fishing & hosting fun times around the camp fire. This summer I had a blast planting gardens near the beach on the "Alaskan Riviera" so I can pretend to be in Mexico all summer long. =)
We have so many "critters" I have a hard time keeping up but I'll try... we'll start with three dogs: A giant schnauzer, a weimeraner, and a chihuahua. Then there's... the fish, the turtle, the rabbits, and the gecko we brought back from Mexico - I think that's all... ;-P What can I say...my man is a real animal-lover, and his theory is "if I can catch it, I can keep it." I wonder if that same rule applies to all the women he's had in his life... ha ha.
I work full time in a job that I love, for a non-profit org in a management position. I now have the opportunity to travel a lot to places I never thought I'd have the priviledge to see... all the way from Nuiqsut to Nome to Metlakatla & a bunch of places in between. Everyday at the office can be an interesting adventure, too!
So life is definitely BUSY and never is there a dull moment. Since losing my mother to cancer last year, I have really learned to appreciate the people around me and every single minute, and how important it is to live life to it's fullest!
