Jennifer's Story
Since my last update below, I lost my son on September 14, 2008. The Lord had mercy on him and took him quickly. He did not suffer. However, the pain of losing him has been devastating. Only by God's love have we been able to go on.
Life
WOW! My life has changed since I updated this page. I've been with the YMCA of Greater Charlotte for more than 18 years. I live just outside of Belmont, NC (which is located outside of Charlotte, NC) and have 2 wonderful children. My husband, Mark, and I have been married for 13 years.
We've had some wonderful times...until our world was turned upside down. My son, Matt (now 9), was diagnosed with a very rare ...Expand for more
cancer (DSRCT) within his abdomen at age 7. His chance of survival was only 20% He was diagnosed in Aug. 2006. Having said that, he remains with us today by the grace of God. He just passed the 3rd grade...all A's and is doing well. We continue to deal with chemo/surgery/radiation side affects...be we've got our boy. My daughter, Megan (12), just finished the 6th grade and has loved being in Middle School. She is smart as well (obviously they got their daddy's brains).
After spending 8 straight months in the hospital, and I mean we NEVER went home, we are all still healing from this...but we are getting through it. Nothing but the grace of God.
