Jennifer's Story
I guess the biggest surprise most people would have about me is how far I have come from who I was in high school. After dropping out of high school (because of course I knew everything back then) I did OK for myself, but I really struggled to get by. I moved to Alabama back in 1994 with my now husband, Bart, and my son Curtis (who was 3 at the time). I was fortunate enough to be able to go back to school when I was 26, and low and behold, I was pretty good at it. I graduated cum laude with a bachelors degree in 1999. I went into public accounting and became a CPA. Now I work in industry, got my certification as a fraud examiner, and work in compliance.
As far as family, 2 of my husband's kids live with us, so we have 3 teenagers living in our house! We are truly blessed though, because we don't have any issues...Expand for more
that most blended families have - we are your typical all-american household. I also have two older step-daughters who still live in Illinois - and one of them has a son, so I am a 'Nana' (notice I didn't say grandma).
Most important of all, is my change spiritually! Living in the "bible-belt" gives you a new perspective on things. Through God's grace, he has forgiven me of my past, and now I know that I will spend eternity with him in heaven. Our church is really a huge part of our lives - all of the kids are active with their youth group; I am active with Women's Ministries, and I also work with an organization called "Teen Challenge" which is a biblical based drug and alcohol rehabilitation program <---- Now how's that for a change?!
So, life is good for us! I would love to hear from any of you to catch up!
