Jennifer's Story
I've been married to my husband of 29yrs, "married"...together for 31yrs,this yr.!😍😘 Little did I know that we met 45yrs. prior as Kids! A school friend of my husband introduced us later in life, and as they say," The Rest is History"!... My husband Kerry grew up here, on the island! We have two beautiful boys named Johnathan,&Nicholas! My eldest son is now 26 yrs old ,graduated computer programming earlier this yr from New Caledonia University (Scotland)! He's currently a "UX Programme & Research/Deveveloper# working for a company based in Toronto! He's able to work from his new home ,here in the Cowichan Valley with his girlfriend! Update Mar.2024,...my eldest son is relocating to Grande Cayman,Is. B.W.I.,this coming June! I have an elder sister that resides with her husband there of 40 yrs! My eldest son is going into "Off Shore Banking",like his uncle! My youngest is 24yrs.old! Works for a local construction company & has started his own excavating company ,works most weekends! I spent most of my career in the medical/Dental field over (27yrs.)some of which was in reconstruction facial surgeries! Now retired as of Oct.11/19!I work on the farm occassionally( birth of cattle) North Cowichan,where my family and I; recently moved! We now live on a 32 acre farm! We have just built our new Home, finishing it off in stages in 2020& outside 2021. I have gone back into pursuing my art)painting,Oil portraits, Watercolors,& Acrylics! I joined a local Art group,2yrs.ago ,where I met my art teachers now residing back in the U.K. They had mentored me up until last Aug.bought one of my first acrylic water scene portraits of which first try came in second to people's choice award! Have been to a few art shiws,in Seattle,showed some of my work of which was bought & shipped as far as London,U.K.! So,very lucky girl indeed!🤔🤔😃🖌️🎨 I currently working part-time in the Vision Care
recentl My husband owned an excavation business,now retired !So, there has been some major changes going on! It's hard to believe that 44yrs.is coming up for the class of 1980!!.... Currently Parkland's "50th" reunion,in May! I will not be attending,as I have spent the last yr.with another family member,tracing my familia history back to Napoli Italy. My late grandfather 's birthplace on my late Dad's side! I have been lucky enough to trace a living familia member,a second cousin,of whom resides in the region of Campania,outside Napoli! I will be travelling there in mid May for a week! This is a dream of finally putting pieces of family history together,& a legacy for my own family,& future grandchildren !🤔♥️ Life has also thrown some reality checks along the way! Some of which I think some of you can relate to; like the loss of a parents/(mother -in-law,earlier this yr.,(2015).... and surviving serious health issues,most recently Feb.2024! onger! I'm not the same person I was in my youth!If anything now, I'm active in our community, and like to socialize alot! I recently just lost my mom (Mar.28/11), my late dad,20 yrs. prior! I am flying home to Edmonton to check on my mom' s siblings as they were very close to my mom being the youngest in her family, and attend a family memorial for her! It is also a chance to show my sons where there mother gets her crazy ways, and show them some of my childhood haunts! At some point, I plan to slow down a bit, and smell the roses and start enjoying my farm! If anything, the last two months have taught me a lesson! Life is too short! So now concentrating on Highland Cow/Beef meat business ,my husband & youngest son,run off our farm currently!~ I have switched gears, and hung up my lab coat as a former lab tech! It gets a little crazy chasing calves, and heifers when your only 4ft.11 inches and shrinking ; when the hay is taller than I am in our fields!!!! My husband says he is going to appoint a new farm vehicle for me! It will be a modified smart vehicle with a wind up key in the back ! He says that I can herd cows with this! He calls it "THE MAD HOBBIT MOBILE"!.........
Little does he know, I have other plans for a farm vehicle! It involves alot of torque, and Chrome Headers,possibly some large Highland Cow Horns to addorn the front!................ " No, it s not going to be a Barbie Bike painted PINK

" Yes", I did share some scary stories of my "Lead Foot" days driving my mom's blue camaro down the Pat Bay Hwy! I'm a very proud momma,& Great Auntie,to 4 great nieces& 1great nephew! ❤️.....
Have beat another cancer scare this year! Just lost another family member to bone &bladder cancer! My Uncle,June 6/13! Flying home with his grandson,my second cousin to a memorial in early July/13! It just hit me, that in my late mom's family out of 5, 3 have had cancer and died!!! In their children, myself and two other cousins, have battled cancer more than once!.... So all in all, haven't heard the "Fat Lady" Sing! I'm too stubborn! Not finished with life anytime soon! Today, Sept.9th,2012. going in a walk to support "Ovarian Cancer"! It 's to support more diagnostic testing. Less than 50% of women by the time they're diagnosed , do not survive this fatal disease! We will get the necessary testing, and beat this!....... If one is lucky enough to survive "Life's Challenges", and have a second chance, PAY IT FORWARD in your own way!
I'm a mix between city girl gone green acr es (millenium style), Janis Joplin (without the drugs),( Mae West),and last but not least, my kids tell me that I take after" Ma Kettle" from the the 1930-40's movie flicks! That's my story; and I'm stickin to it! Holla back now! Ya hear!
