Jennifer's Story
Seems I am one of the remaining few Johns "Islanders" as I still live on the island. Although leaving would have been nice while my children were growing and educating, I am glad I stayed. Thanks to Facebook, we have been able to connect with so many of our school mates and island "family".
I have 2 sons who are both grown. My oldest, Trey, has a couple beautiful daughters and boy does he have his hands full. Both brunettes with gorgeous green eyes. My younger, Frederick is still somewhat of a newlywed after 15 months in the world of marriage. No announcements of any little one coming from that household yet. In time, I am sure. I still have my mother. My father passed in 1987. Too young. Kevin, my brother, and I remain close and talk almost daily.
I work and have worked for a closed door pharmacy for a dozen years. Unique as we only provide meds for those in assisted living and group homes..No retail business, no money, no cash register. It is all delivered to them.
I am active in my church, St Johns right on Johns Island. I volunteer TOO MUCH. One day I am gonna learn. I am a master gardener with Clemson Extension where I signed up to learn how to work in my yard not knowing it was all about giving out advice to other...Expand for more
s for "their" lawns and gardens. Glad they do not see mine, but as you know the plumber has the leaky sink, or whatever the saying is. I am also involved in the shag community, a board member in my club. As I have always loved to dance, this has been a whole new adventure. Dances and bands and whole week long celebrations, some of which are at North Myrtle Beach. Then there is the world of sports. Growing up in the Biggerstaff era, we had no choice but to enjoy football and track, then came basketball. So they have always been on my list of favorite things. When my younger came along, Johns Island was graced with the Lowcountry Little League, a fantastic baseball program with tons of community support. Our family was blessed to have been a part of it. Because of all of these I can find myself totally entertained by any of these sporting events, not to mention the sunshine of a baseball game and all the socializing that just goes with it. The wonderful world of tailgating at a Gamecock football game. Just love it! Oh, they play a game inside those stadiums as well!
Life is good, even if we are approaching our parents ages. Who said anything about senior citizen discounts....but I will gladly save the money if they offer them..
