Jerald Jessen:  

ugust 1971 I enlisted in the US Navy and went to boot camp in San Diego, CA. Upon graduation I was stationed aboard the USS DIXIE (AD-14) in San Diego, CA through September 1974. I was then stationed at the Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado, CA until August 1975 at which time my service was up. I reenlisted in the US Navy in December 1975 and was stationed aboard the USS CLEVELAND (LPD-7) in San Diego, CA until December 1977 when I was stationed at Naval Station Guam through December 1979. In January 1980 I reported to Naval Military Personnel Command, Washington, DC through January 1982. In January 1982 - January 1983 I was aboard the USS CAMDEN (AOE-2) in Bremerton, WA at which time I was honorably discharged. By the way I was a Yeoman. During my tours of duty on the USS DIXIE and USS CLEVELAND I made three Western Pacific Cruises, visiting Japan, Phillipeans, Hong Kong, Thialand, island of Okinawa, South Korea, Tiawan, Kwajalin Islands and Hawaii. I Also participated in several burial at sea ceremonies off the coast of San Diego, CA.
