Jere's Story

Life I was married to Chuck for over 40 years. I am now a widow, as he passed away on August 30, 2020 after being ill for several years. While we never had any children, we did, and I still do, have animals. In 2005 adopted a kitty who was meowing outside our front door (for 3 days). She has passed away, her name was Prissy. She was Chuck's girl, and she followed him around the house and cried when he went outside to have his smoke. Then we took in my Mom's cat after she passed away in 2006. Mom named him Kitty, and he became MY cat, he followed me around the house and waited for me to come home from work. He has also passed away. I never knew cats were such loyal animals. Hmmmm, I learn something new every day..... Chuck had also adopted another kitty in 2009, her name is Sophie. Then we were adopted by a chihuahua in 2010, his name is Buddy. In 2011 we were adopted by a little white kitty, his name is Snowball. Then in 2015, a friendly little terrier came and introduced himself to me at three in the morning. We added him to our family. Chuck named him Skipper. I am now retired. I had to take care of Chuck for the last few years because he had health problems. I had worked as a manager at Coco's Bakery Restaurant for 8 years. Because I ...Expand for more
had a hard time deciding what I wanted to be when I grew up, I went to college for quite a while. I thought I wanted to be a teacher, then I volunteered in a sixth grade classroom for a bit and found out I didn't really like it. Plus a university was WAY out of my budget. So I just took general courses, like English and math, and fun stuff, like photography and ceramics. Finally I hit on something I thought I would like to do....which was being a Paralegal. I graduated in June 2003 from Riverside Community College with a A.S. in Paralegal Studies. But nobody wanted to hire an entry level Paralegal here in the Riverside area (they all want 3 to 5 years of experience), sooooo I went into management. I figured it was the next step since I was tired of waiting on tables. I have taken up archery in the last couple of years and really enjoying it. I am still not very good at it (because I HATE to practice), and I am not going to any competitions, but I AM having fun. I was participating in fencing preciously, but my coach moved away, so I had to stop. College I was relieved to finally get my degree after many years of working and attending school part time. Now I don't ever have to study or write papers on arcane subjects again if I don't really want to.
