Jerrie's Story
I moved to the Dallas area after graduating from Stephen F. Austin in 1986. I taught in Dallas for 2 years. Then I started working for Lewisville I.S.D. I taught there for 21 years, and then I taught in Frisco I.S.D. for a year. I taught elementary special education for 16 of those years, and I taught 3rd grade for 7 years. I truly loved my work because it was so fulfilling. I am now looking at other fields to work in.
Personally speaking, I just got a rescue dog from "death row". Her name is Ella, after my maternal grandmother. She is part long-haired Chihuahua/part terrier. She was abused before, so I am loving her back to life.
I am also, sadly, recently divorced. We were married for 10 years with no children. It's tough, but we are on very good terms. I love to laugh, sing (shower only!), spend time with friends, read, stay in close touch with my family, and shop.
I have chronic, intractable migraines. I have between 9-15/month. Ouch!! I have had them since my 20's, and I have good medicine for when they come on. It does make it harder to work, but I manage. Other than that, I truly enjoy life because it is such a great gift. I ...Expand for more
am much less shy than I was in high school. Okay, I'm not shy at all! I started to "come into my own" in college. LOTS of fun there. Now I just love talking to people and making them smile, even if I don't know them!
In short, I am a very happy person who is not fake at all. I have had many trials, as we all do, but I choose to move on rather than harbor ill feelings toward people. I love and trust God to help me straighten stuff out. I can't say I miss high school because I was so "not into it" at all! College was a blast, and life has been an adventure--highs and lows. The "highs" have been very high, and the "lows" have been very low, (NOT bipolar :) but I have many wonderful friends, a fabulous family, and a dog so cute I can hardly stand it!!
People describe me as kind, funny, loyal, organized, and someone who will stand up for the right thing regardless of the consequences, and there have been many consequences. The bad stuff is: I don't eat right because I love sugar too much, I tend to isolate myself when I am down, and I can make people cry if they mess with my friends or family. That's actually a good thing, I guess.
