Jerry's Story
Life
Well here goes. My wife bonnie and I got married in high school.
had 3 kids in 4 years, knocked around SJ working various jobs tell
1968. moved to Denver and went into a automotive related business.
the business was much more successful than we had ever thought it would be. it let us spend a lot of time as a family together, racing in the summer, snowmobiling in winter and house boat vacations on lake powel.1979 daughter in college boys out on there own so lets do something really stupid. so we did. we sold our house and business bought a 42 foot sail boat and spent the next 5 years cruising. we based out of fl. did the whole east coast and the Chesapeake bay several times. took a trip to Bermuda 6 days out 5 back. then we headed south 11 days at sea fl. to the virgin islands.
spent the next 2 years in the Caribbean region, South and central
America and Mexico. I had my own dive tanks and compressor on
board so we spent almost as much time under water as on top
of it. no bills no phone and the kids cant move back in. it doesnÂt
get any better than this. back to fl in 85 . Port St. Lucie 85 to 2003.
dabbled in real estate and built some mini storages. 1995 after 2 years searching I found bill MonteroÂs 32 roadster in a garage in
Turlock where it had sat for 32 years. I rebuilt it with some major
changes. it turned out to be one of the most photographed street
rods in the US. for several years. The mini storages gave us plenty
of time to travel. so we had a 43 ft. trailer bui...Expand for more
lt with the car in back and living space up front. we pulled it with a freightliner. We managed
to visit every state in the continental US. except for two. and they know who they are. Went to lots of car shows won lots of awards and met lots of wonderful people. And this is a wonderful country.
2002 too much traffic too much heat. we decided that sitting on a bunch of over priced real estate waiting for the next hurricane was not the smartest thing in the world to do. so we grabbed the money and ran. Our daughter and son in law who lived near by felt the same way. So we all sold every thing we had and 4 generations of us moved to Tennessee where we all now live on 80 plus acres of beautiful wooded and rolling farm land. We built 4 houses up on a wooded ridge and have about 30 acres of fields where our daughter keeps her horses. We built a building at the base of the ridge for me to use as a hobby shop where I usually have several projects building. Our youngest son is planning to move here in the next year and our oldest says he is also planning to move here sometime in the future. In 50 years bonnie and i have given life a hell of a ride and hopefully were not through yet.
this is the latist in my life.
after a brief ilness my wife bonnie passed away on feb. 2nd io 2009. thank god for my famly and friends . as i did not see any reason for living. thay have helped me through the darkest time of my life. i know life will not be the same but i will just have to muddle through i guess.
