Jerry Burn:

CLASS OF 1965
San bruno, CA

Jerry's Story

Life Member of San Bruno Police Reserve from 1968 to 1973, when I was transferred to Spokane WA. My son (Greg) is a motorcycle officer in Portland, Oregon. He was the first person to get selected for training in less than five years service, and was the only one that graduated from the training class. Portland Police trains motor officers from many OR/WA agencies. I was always proud of my affiliating with SBPD, and proud that my son has become a police officer. I live in Beaverton, OR and have one other son (Gordon) who has a limo business, and have four grandchildren (3 boys and 1 girl). My grandaughter, when she was 11 months old had her picture taken with President George W. Bush at the Portland Air National Guard base where my son (Greg) was serving on active duty with the OR ANG after the 9/11 attacks. I...Expand for more
have been employeed by the same company for 36 years and have lived in Spokane, Seattle and Portland, after leaving the peninsula. I also continued in the Naval Reserve as a crypologic intellengence officer, and retired with 31 years of service in 1997 as a Chief Warrant Officer (4). A few times when I have been in the bay area, I have been fortunate enough to do a ride along with SBPD. Brings back old fond memories. When I ride with my son (in a car, not the BMW), it all comes back to me. Although I was around for only 4 years, it became a part of me, and even after all these years, I will remember the 10 and 11 radio codes, SB radio call sign etc. Sick, huh???? My best wishes to the men and women of SBPD, and may you all go 10-7 after every shift and go home to your families. Remember, that is your first duty!
