Jerry's Story

Life Grew up in the big city of Blenheim, SC. Moved to Florence, SC after High School and eventually graduated from Francis Marion University. Now I'm living with my wife of twenty years, seventeen year old son - Lyle, and eleven year old dog - Sparky (a Jack Russell Terrier) in Mount Pleasant, SC. We love living on the coast: the walks on the beach, the local sea food, and everything there is to do in Charleston. I have a lot of fond memories of life in my small home town and the friends who put up with me during those years. Life goes by faster now than it did back then! At the same time everything takes longer to do now. :) I have five grand children: three boys and two girls - the children of my two daughters by my first marriage. No, grand children don't make me feel old - they make me feel happy. My oldest daughter, Renee, lives in Agusta, GA with her husband, son, and tw...Expand for more
o daughters. My youngest daughter, Michelle, lives in Columbus, GA with her two boys. (Can't wait to retire so I can make more trips to GA!) You can't live on the coast and not have some type of boat. I am in to kayaking. I have been kayaking for several years now and love being in the water - there's nothing like having a dolphin pop out of the water right by your boat. Or, the solitude of being on a river where the only sound is the wildlife and splashing of paddles. I also plan to do a little more of that when I retire. I'm not sure when that will be. I love my job. I work at The Citadel and love the job, the school, the Cadets, The Citadel Family, and being part of something that I believe is special. I have the years in to retire: thirty-one years with the state of South Carolina! But, I'm still young - at least in my mind. (Which, itself, isn't what it use to be. Oh well.)
